Xperia X10 Official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Rolling Out Now

Wow it’s finally here! Yes. Ladies and Gentlemen, Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is officially on the roll now. Well some of you might not believe, others might think it’s a hoax, but today its nothing but real. Of course if you have had your Xperia X10 around for some time and have been hacking away to release it from SE’s prison, then this update isn’t yet ready for your consumption. By this we mean that if you have root on your phone with extras like custom Recoveries, kernels and other bacon, then you should avoid this update to retain full control of your device. Of course once developers get their hands on this one, they will start merging the changes into their custom ROMs and you will be all set to get the flavor.

Here’s a list of what this new update brings with it:

  1. Facebook Inside Xperia – Integration of multiple FB apps, Calendar plus phonebook sync and all that jazz.
  2. A Brand New Music Player with Equalizer
  3. USB Tethering
  4. Photo Widget
  5. App Tray Sorting

In order to upgrade your Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to the latest official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, you will need Sony Ericsson PC Suite 2.0. Once you have installed and setup this software on your PC, we believe that you will be prompted for the Gingerbread update. Once prompted, follow onscreen instructions closely to update your phone to the latest firmware release. We are keeping an eye out for custom ROMs that will come based on this official GB release and will post once they are available. Again, if you have root on your phone, do not upgrade to the latest build if you want to retain root priveliene4s. The “root-ability” of this build is still unknown.
