Water Safety Instructor Temporary Part T… job – Stafford County, VA – Stafford County, VA

Performs intermediate semiskilled/skilled work organizing and instructing all levels of Water Aerobics Classes; this position has three defined levels; does related work are required; supervision may be exercised over lower level Water Aerobics Instructors.

Examples of Duties:
Organizes and instructs various water aerobics classes; maintains records, statistics; assists Aquatics Supervisor/Pool Managers in scheduling classes. Demonstrates and instructs various water aerobics classes; Coordinates activities and demonstrations; Organizes and implements program activities; Schedules and registers participants; Prepares and communicates program information to the public, participants and staff; Supervises a variety of skill and age level of class participants; Completes all required records and reports on a daily basis; Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflicts and complaints.

This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force regularly, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, direct sunlight, humidity, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Typical Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices, techniques, and equipment needed to teach water aerobics; some knowledge of aquatic area operations and safety preferred; ability to deal with program participants; ability to execute sound judgment.

CPR and standard first aid certification preferred. A minimum age of 18 years old.

Water Aerobics Instructor I: Requires 0-2 years of experience with Stafford County or other aquatic programs.

Water Aerobics Instructor II: Requires 2-4 years of aquatic experience, a nationally recognized certification in land and/or water aerobics or equivalent and 300 hours of Stafford Aquatic Aerobics instruction time.

Water Aerobics Instructor III: Requires 4 years of Water Aerobics experience, a nationally recognized certification in land and/or water aerobics or equivalent ad water aerobics programming experience.

Supplemental Information:
CPR and standard first aid certification preferred. A minimum age of 18 years old.
