Umph Kernel For Moto Triumph Overclocks Up To 1.9 GHz [Download And Guide]

Motorola Triumph now has some real reason to be called Triumph as a Umph Custom Kernel for this phone manages an overclock up to 1.9 GHz! This is some serious awesomeness that has been brought to Triumph owners by Pwnyourace from Android Forums. As Moto Triumph specs are somewhat similar to high tier HTC devices like EVO and the EVO shift, so it was only a matter of time the overclocking took place. The kernel comes with smartass and scary governors on board and boasts of some memory tweaks that might give you optimum experience while triumphing with the Triumph.

Here is a list of features that this kernel comes packed with:

Smartass and Scary Govs
Modded ramdisk for root and init.d scripting
Memory tweaks
Stability and speed tweaks
Enabled anticipatory i/o scheduler (i/o is deadline by default)
OC and UC clock values from 122mhz to 1.9ghz (clock at your own risk)
Swap support

And you can install / flash this kernel following the guide below:

Please understand that overclocking and undervolting your phone is direct tinkering with device’s hardware. AddictiveTips won’t be responsible if you end up with a bricked device following the instructions provided below. Proceed with caution.

  1. The first step is to make sure that your Motorola Triumph has root with custom ClockworkMod Recovery installed.
  2. Once done, download Umph OC Kernel for your Motorola Triumph from here.
  3. Now connect your phone to the computer, mount SD Card as flash drive and copy the downloaded kernel zip file to SD Card root.
  4. After this reboot your phone in ClockworkMod Recovery.
  5. Once you are in the recovery, go to install Zip from SD Card option.
  6. From the resulting menu, select the kernel zip file you earlier copied to SD Card and flash / install.
  7. After the installation is complete, reboot your device.
  8. Once your phone reboots, download SetCPU from Android Market and overclock / undervolt at your own free will.

Apparently it’s better to keep your phone up to 1.4 GHz for a safe and smooth ride. In case you need more information or want to thank the kernel developer in person, then visit the Android Forums thread linked in step 2.
