Twitter Releases Vine For Web With A Full Screen TV Mode & More

At long last, it has finally arrived! Twitter launched Vine on iOS and Android quite a while back and starting today, your favorite video-looping and sharing service has landed to the web as well. Vine For Web lets you access your Vine home feed, browse other users’ profiles and like, comment and share videos straight from the web. Speaking of sharing, you can even share your profile URL with others, which, in turn, will let them browse and view all your vines. Furthermore, there’s a new TV mode exclusive to the web interface that enables users to watch entire sequences of Vines from a profile or home feed, in full screen mode.

For those unfamiliar with Vine, it allows users to record and share short, six-second videos that automatically loop on playback just like GIF files. But unlike GIF images, the videos recorded via Vine are in MP4 format and also include sound.

Using Vine on web is very simple; just head over to, and you will see a new ‘Login’ button there at the upper right corner. You can either sign in with your email and password or your Twitter account, in which case you will also require to authorize Vine to link it with your Twitter profile.

Navigation on the web interface is very straightforward; as soon as you hope onto your home feed, the first looped video automatically begins to load, and as you scroll down, additional videos also incrementally load up, just as in the mobile apps. You are allowed to post comment on videos and like, Revine, tweet or share them over social media.

Vine for Web also lets you browse your Vine profile, as well as that of people you’ve been following. The profile page is quite handy to access all Vine posts from a particular user under one roof. That said, you can also stumble upon new profiles this way and find more people to follow.

The TV mode I mentioned earlier can be accessed via clicking the small TV-like button that remains visible in the upper right corner of the screen.

This will take you to a new view mode that shows the collection of videos in sequence, full screen. You can click the arrow buttons at the bottom to navigate between different videos.

Twitter has done a great job of making Vine accessible both from mobile and the web. Now all that’s missing from the mix is an official Windows 8 app in Modern UI flavor.
