The Administrative Assistant/Switchboard Operator has a variety of jobs duties. The switchboard is the triage center of the agency. You not only receive calls but also greet visitors at the receptionist window and assist CHAIL staff with various tasks. Staff may need you to place long distance calls for them as well as to page for another staff member. You will also assist in faxing and copying for agency staff. In between doing these tasks, you will need to distribute the U.S. mail and assist in distributing the interoffice mail. You will be called upon to assist other departments for projects such as mailings, labeling, sorting, etc. The position requires Monday through Thursday availability and is a full-time, 32 hour per week position.
QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum high school education plus related office experience preferred. Switchboard operation is a plus. Must possess good skills in written and oral communication, organization, word processing, office procedures and equipment usage. Must be able to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner. Physical ability to effectively communicate via telephone and face to face meetings with clients, visitors, and callers to the agency; physical ability to effectively utilize word processing/computer equipment on a routine basis.
