In alignment with the brand strategy, the Sr. Product Manager (Squier) is responsible for controlling the evolution of sales and global product strategy for one or more of the company’s highest revenue/complex product lines. Analyzes sales information, projections, and other meaningful data and prepares forecasts on market evolution and company products; coordinates promotions and advertising efforts; and provides short term and long term product strategic direction. Requires extensive marketing and technical skills and has supervisory responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for global product strategy; makes strategic and tactical product line decisions
  • Develops the product line strategy to increase sales, share, profitability, image, and consumer demand world-wide
  • Product line management: New products: focus R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, minimizing development time and cost
  • Ongoing products: drives lifecycle and inventory/sku management improvements
  • Is the expert on the entire product line
  • Defines consumer expectations for the product lines. Understands and uses research and market data to make fact based decisions
  • Tells the “product story”
  • Sells sales – first point of expertise
  • Lead, manage and develop Product Specialist
  • Responsible for execution of the product plan, in alignment with brand strategy
  • Monitor, track, forecast, manage product line performance in terms of, at minimum, sales, market share, and inventory
  • Product training leader (internally and externally)
  • Contract/licenses: identify and prioritize opportunities

Key Relationships:

  • Direct management from Brand Manager
  • Network of key internal and external contacts to gather market information
  • Customer service: consumer and customer feedback
  • R&D: product development, safety
  • Manufacturing: quality and capacity
  • Supply Chain: planning, inventory, purchasing
  • Mar-Coms: scopes specific campaigns for specific audience
  • Sales: internal: relationships with sales office heads; external: relationship with top dealers
  • Sales Ops: align performance to goals (inventory, sales, margin)
  • Maintain key MI media relationships
  • Close interaction with European and Asian Product Managers (Europe has dotted line reporting to HQ Product Managers)


  • 8+ years of experience sourcing imported parts at a global manufacturer of musical equipment/products
  • Background in the music industry
  • Retail trade experience
  • Purchasing, inventory experience at retail level
  • Experience working with and building relationships with OEM’s
  • Product lifecycle experience with product lines in excess of 50 million
