Spoiler Shield Hides Spoilers From Facebook & Twitter On Android, iOS

Spoilers – we all curse them (and those who wickedly spill the beans). They are like the dark side of internet holding the power to ruin our favorite TV shows, books, movies and even sports events. If you ask what the main source of spoilers is these days, then all fingers will point towards social media. But the sad truth is that it’s not that easy to avoid services like Twitter and Facebook these days particularly when they are the best platforms to keep an eye on latest trends. Silencer for Chrome helps you avoid stumbling upon spoilers while browsing social media sites on your desktop. For mobile devices, there’s Spoiler Shield, a free app for iOS and Android that blocks mentions of popular TV shows and sports on Facebook and Twitter.

Spoiler Shield doesn’t have any complicated settings. In fact, once installed, it starts working its magic on its own. You can, of course, customize it to your liking, toggling ‘Shields’ for the shows and games you intend to watch. To set it up, you first need to add your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts.

Once you’re on the app’s home screen, Spoiler Shield lets you access your feeds from either social network. It acts as a substitute to the official apps. You can post tweets and status updates and view those from others by scrolling down. All posts from your news feed appear as they should, with the only difference being that the app automatically censors any mentions of the shows or games you’ve blocked. To select shows and games that you want filtered, swipe in from the left edge of screen and navigate to the ‘Shields’ screen.

The app lets you block spoilers from a variety of sports (NFL, MLB, NBA) and popular TV shows (Arrow, American Idol, Homeland, WWE, The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries). Remember that related content will only be hidden within the app itself. It does not effect the official Facebook and Twitter apps, neither does it hide spoilers from their mobile websites.
