Supply/Other Controllable Expense (OCE) Specialist: Key role as part of the PMI team located in the home office in Dallas. The Supply and Other Controllable Expense Specialist will be tasked with understanding purchased service spend across a diverse healthcare landscape of 80+ acute care hospitals and hundreds of satellite sites and sub-acute care providers. Utilizing direct and GPO contractual relationships, the Specialist will look for areas of opportunity to reduce purchased service spend and improve quality of service delivery for outsourced services. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a positive and productive relationship with our GPO partner HealthTrust Purchasing Group (HPG) and with other vendors Tenet has executed direct agreements. Though not an analyst, the Specialist should have an understanding of healthcare spend and be able to quickly understand new business models for lines of service with which they may not have had previous experience. Maintaining strong vendor and GPO relationships, a familiarity with contracting with its legal and compliance subtleties, and forging of strong interdepartmental and intercompany relationships will be critical. Specific Job Duties include: Interpreting data and analysis from team analysts to assess and prioritize purchase service opportunity for add to GPO roster or for direct vendor contracting. Analyzing vendor RFPs, contracts, and savings proposals. Working with datasets in Excel to identify supply and OCE opportunities for PMI clinicians and supply experts, DMMS, and Health Trust partners, Hospital Administration and PMI purchased service teammates Assisting with the tracking of purchased service spend reduction and KPI performance, which may be used to hold vendors accountable or to budget for future performance. Convincing hospital leadership of the need for new vendors relationships which may involve breaking down entrenched relationships Working with GPO, vendors, contract administrators, and attorneys on contracts, which requires at least a rudimentary understanding of healthcare law and compliance as well as general business contracting requirements Hospital walkthroughs, base lining, and opportunity assessment for new vendor RFPs Maintaining positive vendor relationships while also holding vendors accountable to contractual requirements and expectations Up to 50% travel – as travel is required, we will run a MVR on the final candidate. BA/BS required, MBA or MHA is preferred. Two to three years of experience in either consulting or the health care provider industry focused on data management and analysis or similar robust analytical experience. Supply chain, Finance, Purchased Service and OCE experience would be a plus. General knowledge of hospital financial, clinical and operations systems preferred along with basic hospital accounting knowledge and functionality. Advanced DBASE and Excel skills are a must, as well as general working knowledge or Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are a must. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated ability to synthesize data and convert interviews and observations into actionable recommendations. Excellent interpersonal skills; a dedicated listener, comfortable in a variety of settings dealing with diverse constituencies; a broad thinker. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. The analyst will need to be firm but maintain a professional persona with outside vendors and hospital leaders. Ability to work well under pressure successfully prioritizing projects and effectively managing time and tasks, achieving optimum results.
