Senior Patient Safety Analyst job – ECRI Institute – Pennsylvania

ECRI Institute is seeking an experienced Senior Patient Safety Analyst / clinical informaticist knowledgeable about electronic health records systems and health IT related safety concerns. This position is located in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, understanding, interpretation, and use of information from data collected on health IT-related patient safety issues in order to identify ways in which health IT can improve healthcare safety and quality.
  • Identify new ways to use information presently collected in electronic health records in order to facilitate safety activities
  • Conduct, oversee, and prepare for topic analysis via workgroup activities with senior leaders from divergent disciplines.
  • Develop lecture materials, webinars, educational and training tools, and other items as needed.
  • Present materials in various public forums and at professional meetings.


Bachelor’s degree (majoring in Nursing or other clinical degree) and 5 years’ experience with electronic health records systems and health IT related safety concerns required.

  • Familiarity with and preferably active use of at least two different electronic health records systems and their use and application in various clinical settings (acute care, ambulatory, long term or post-acute care).
  • Awareness of patient safety issues and the relationship of health IT to safety issues.
  • Familiar with evidence based guidelines.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory compliance environment related to healthcare IT.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Highly organized; excellent time management skills.
  • Past experience in working with and reporting to those from various educational and experience levels.
  • Superior communication and writing skills (writing sample required).
  • Excellent presentation skills (in hiring process may be asked to provide short presentation)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to participate in occasional national travel.
