Sprint’s version of Galaxy S, Samsung Epic 4G, is set to release on 31st August but the root is already out! Yes, you heard it right! Folks over at SDX-Developers have posted the rooting method two days prior to official launch. The method, for now, is the conventional adb rooting approach that is not recommended for novices.
We hope that there will be a one-click rooting procedure available right after the official release on 31st August.
The first step is to download Epic 4G Root file. The root file is named as evo-root but don’t worry, because it uses the same EVO like rooting approach.
Now launch ADB and run the following commands:
adb push c:downloadsrageagainstthecage-arm5.bin /data/local/tmp
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
Exit out of the adb shell, and type adb shell again. This time it should drop you to # instead of $.
If it goes back to $, run the exploit again.
Once this is done, re launch adb and check if the “#” sign is there.
It seems to be a complex rooting procedure so we will advise you against it if you don’t have enough command line rooting experience beforehand. You can check this thread at SDX Forums to get more guidelines and clarity regarding the root guide.
