This position coordinates, supervises and implements projects and activities that support the operations of the risk management and patient safety programs within the service area hospitals including the legal discovery process. These projects and activities assist the facility-based risk managers and other hospital leadership in making key decisions pertaining to patients, visitors, medical staff, employees and volunteers. This position expands the impact and influence of the risk managers and hospital leadership by providing extensive, specific information that support the day-to-day and long term risk management and patient safety operational decisions. In addition, this position provides the vital interface between the Dignity Health Claims Management staff and the Dignity Health System Risk Management staff in furthering enterprise-wide standardization.
5 years in a risk management support role including data management, Clinical Training, Risk Management or another field; experience with legal agreements, contracts, legal discovery requests, attorney interactions; and proven track record of delivering on large scale projects.
High school diploma and some college-level courses.
Training in and/or working knowledge of IVOS, CUE, and MedSun systems; Title XXII, EMTALA, TJC standards, Patient Safety standards and other State and Federal laws that pertain to hospital risk management programs; and Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint (required).
Special skills required include: excellent problem solving skills; knowledge of healthcare theory and practice; familiarity with hospital organizations, structures and functions; effective interpersonal and communication skills; group facilitation skills including root cause analysis; organizational and time management skills; calendar management; minute taking capability; ability to deliver difficult feedback to resistant and defensive participants by constructively focusing on improvement; strong project management skills; conducting analysis of multiple solutions; effective and efficient decision making skills; ability to display self-confidence and inspire confidence in others; and ability to handle ambiguity and create stability in high-pressure situations.
College degree or significant college-level business training and additional relevant experience.
