The job:
PEOPLE is seeking a PR Manager to help manage communications and public relations activities for all People platforms (print, digital, video and social). In this role, you will work on increasing the media profiles of People’s editors and reporters, as well as publicizing People’s events throughout the year. This role reports into the Director of Communications for People.

You will:

  • Lead a broad range of pitching to support digital, print and social content across People as well as new revenue streams.
  • Work across departments (Edit, Consumer Marketing, and Business Development) to help develop newsworthy digital/social media campaigns for major PEOPLE initiatives including red carpet events and franchise issues
  • Book multiple TV segments per week, including on breaking news topics, brands’ magazine and digital content, as well as long-lead segments
  • Assist with planning and execution of PR strategies and project management surrounding new initiatives and high profile events
  • Liaise with both the editorial and business teams to ensure all deadlines and goals are met for a range of projects
  • Write regular press releases
  • Support team with some administrative tasks: media mailings, list building, creation of press material
  • Develop and maintain media contacts and relationships
  • Pitch executives for key speaking opportunities throughout the year
  • Manage award opportunities for Entertainment Group brands
  • Travel to 2-4 events a year such as the White House Correspondents Dinner, Award shows etc.

You are:

  • Proven: 4-6 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • You are well-versed in all social media and other emerging trends as well as have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • A Multi-tasker: When it comes to juggling multiple projects at once, you’re a pro; ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while still paying attention to detail. You have excellent writing and pitching skills.
  • Collaborative: You’re a team player and it shows. No task is too small. You’re happiest when you’re contributing to a project. You’re quick to notice the details you manage and how they contribute to the greater whole.
