Job Description

To supervise and direct the payroll staff in their daily functions. Ensures the accurate and timely processing, handling, and maintenance of all payroll records and regulatory reports regarding payroll. Directly responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, and counseling/discipline of payroll employees. Respond to requests for verifications and garnishments. Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for all payroll related accounts and other accounts as deemed necessary. Administer payroll control procedures per Starwood Financial Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance with payroll related State and Federal Laws. Review and Prepare State and Federal quarterly and annual tax reports.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in accounting or equivalent education required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • Minimum three years of payroll related accounting experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity required, preferably in hotel industry.
  • Must possess computer skills, including but not limited to, MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. Must possess basic accounting concepts, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required. Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations including but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA and NLRA.
  • ADP HR/Payroll system experience highly recommended with knowledge of computer accounting programs, and the ability to operate payroll software.
