This position works as an integral member of a multidisciplinary audit team for a federal government contract to perform audits of California Medicaid (Medi-Cal) to identify medical claim overpayments.

Full-time with benefits

Position is contingent upon contract award to Catapult (estimated award is 9/1/16-3/31/17)

Work location is an office to be determined in Los Angeles, CA or telework from a home office anywhere nationwide

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, or Business-related field

10+ years of related full-time work experience, including at least 2+ years in a supervisory/management position

At least 5 years of experience working with the California Medicaid program (Medi-Cal), preferably in a supervisory/management position

Experience with healthcare compliance; Government Auditing Standards; program integrity; medical claims review process; as well as clinical documentation, coding, and billing

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Highly-motivated & detail-oriented professional

Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal & written communication, and follow-up skills

One or more of the following certifications are a plus: Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Utilization Review (CPUR), Certified Professional Utilization Management (CPUM)

Research and interpret California Medicaid laws, regulations, guidelines and established State policies

Advise audit team and supervisory/management personnel on various aspects of the California Medicaid (Medi-Cal) program

Develop and present trainings on various aspects of the Medic-Cal program

Create standard operating and procedures and templates for use by the Medi-Cal auditors

Identify trends/themes in the inaccuracies and noncompliance of medical records and relation to the Medicaid guidelines

Identify trends/ themes in the sources of inaccuracies of claims

Interact with multidisciplinary team members and participate in weekly team meetings

Other duties as assigned

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel while typing at a computer keyboard.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, or lift objects up to 10 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The vision requirements include: close vision.
