The Manager of Actuarial Services is responsible for managing the actuarial support for Medicare Advantage products for assigned states. Support includes an advisory role for all aspects of products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business for pricing and modeling of new Medicare Advantage products.
Support the Medicare Advantage bid process
Conduct product experience studies.
Perform product budgeting and forecasting.
Oversee the financial and actuarial analysis of staff
BS or BA in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Economics or related field
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Government Clearance & US Citizenship Requirement
Minimum of five years actuarial experience in health care or closely related industry
Medicare and/or Medicaid actuarial experience preferred
OR, any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of actuarial modeling including rating, and budgeting. IBNR knowledge a plus.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Medicare and understanding of Medicare bid process
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Strong technical, analytical and computer systems skills including proficiency in MS Excel and Access
Knowledge of actuarial principles including, but not limited to, rate-setting and rate review, actuarial soundness, pricing, trends, and forecasts
Ability to work independently, as well as work collaboratively with areas including Sales, Finance, Legal, Provider Network Management, Medical Management and other internal and external partners
