Who We Are:

Community Options, Inc. is a Non-Profit company which develops residential and employment supports for people with disabilities, utilizing technology and training. We recognize that people with disabilities need environments, equipment, clinical and staff support that are tailored to their very specific needs.

The Job Coaches perform a vital service to our participants, by supervising and providing training to young adults between the ages of 16 to 24 with developmental disabilities. Training involves working with the consumers at the work place, helping them master specific job tasks, work routines, and personal life activities critical to employment success. You will also coach the individual to learn the appropriate emotional and social skills needed to successfully transition from high school to becoming gainfully employed and live as independently as possible.

We are seeking Full Time Job Coaches in the Rockville, MD area.

Shifts Available: Full Time: M-F: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Work with the employer to understand their expectations.
  • Getting to know the participants through daily conversation to better understand how they learn and the best ways to help them learn.
  • Instructs the participant on job skills and requirements utilizing job task analysis and job specific supports, including assistive technology and personal assistance.
  • Assists individuals in reinforcing essential skills, or teaching new skills appropriate to developing a resume, conducting a successful job interview, and completing a job application.
  • Transports participants to and from the job location in personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement available)
  • Works side by side at each job rotation, analyzing the job duties and breaking it down into manageable tasks.
  • Coaches the participant to stay on task to complete work and if the participant is unable to complete the days tasks during the training period, the Job Coach will complete the work.
  • Cultivates a support network between the individuals, employees, department heads, and community members.
  • Communicates all participants’ progress to STEP Coordinator and Director of Transition Services, along with support people, including family, residential staff and other professionals

What Experience/Skills You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • HS Diploma with at least 1 years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record
  • Patience and a positive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports.
