Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread CyanogenMod 7 Final On Nook Color

Nook Color is easily one of the most versatile tablet in the Android world and since it can run just about everything you throw at it, it’s the perfect value for money. Some even call it the tablet counterpart of the HTC HD2. Earlier, we covered CyanogenMod 7 Nightly release for the Nook Color and soon after the Release Candidates started rolling out. Today, we have the CyanogenMod 7 Stable Release for the Nook Color that till date has limitless potential when it comes to accommodating custom ROMS. If you think this is awesome, there’s even more, in form of a valuable feature packed inside this CM7 release geared at tablets. For more on that and how to install it on your device, read on!

When we initially covered CM 7 for the Nook Color, the experience didn’t go quite smooth for some. It was because the instructions included formatting the /boot partition, which was required for installing the latest nightly build at the time of writing. However, future nightly builds didn’t contain the boot partition and those who attempted installing those builds ended up not having a boot partition. We fixed the instructions and the same installation method should now be safely applicable to all version of CM7 on the Nook Color. That said, let’s talk about perhaps the most awesome feature applicable to tablets that’s new in this release.

CyanogenMod 7 now includes the Bottom Status Bar for all CM7 supported devices. Earlier we covered the Bottom Status Bar for the Nook Color, which was bundled unofficially into the ROM. However, seeing it’s potential and usability this feature is now officially part of the ROM. This works exceptionally well on a tablet, providing quick access to the status bar on that large screen while holding it comfortably.

So if you’re an advanced Android user who knows how to flash his ROMs, download the ROM from the link at the end of this page and treat yourself! However if you have no experience in flashing the CyanogenMod 7 on your Nook Color, see our detailed guide on how to install CM7 on the Nook Color.

Update: CyanogenMod 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.1 and 7.2 have all been released by now. 7.2 is the latest, greatest and most stable release of Gingerbread-based CyanogenMod 7 and we highly recommend that you choose it over all other versions available, as most – if not all – issues from the older builds have been fixed in this one. All these (as well as any future) builds can be found at the download link given below.
