Infection Control Manager job – Avanti Hospitals – United States

A Registered Nurse trained in hospital epidemiology and occupational health principles and is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of data required by regulatory agencies; educating employees about work safety and infection prevention; and the development of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous employee health and infection prevention & control standards that meet the requirements of The Joint Commission, OSHA, Public Health Department, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other regulatory agencies. The Director of Infection Prevention & Control and Employee Health Services reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Essential Job Duties:
The Director of Infection Prevention & Control and Employee Health Services is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the employee health and infection prevention programs. He /She ensures that the IC-EH Programs are in alignment with the hospital mission and vision and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. This responsibility may include, but may not be limited to the following:

Endeavors to promote health and safety to all employees by facilitating an Employee Health Program which includes disease detection, prevention, and treatment; following up employee illnesses and injuries; conducting employee health screenings; and, promoting a safe work environment.

Develop a system for identifying, reporting and analyzing and incidence and causes of hospital acquired infections and coordinate with Public Health Department and other appropriate government and regulatory agencies and for the reporting, investigation and prevention of infections.

Review and approve all policies and procedures related to infection surveillance, prevention and control activities in all department / services and collaborates with the organization leadership to institute emergency measures to prevent infections such as closure of units, transfer of patients, halting construction and other measures.

Develop a system of surveillance and control of infections, identifying, reporting, and analyzing clusters of infections, outbreaks, sentinel events, emerging pathogens, and special studies or reports. Institutes any surveillance, prevention or control measures or study when there is a reason to believe that any patient, personnel or visitor may be in danger.

Provide budget proposals and information resource request s that facilitate general infection prevention and control program activities defined by program components and specific activities that support disease prevention, data collection and reporting.

Serve as a role model for the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice.

Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice.

Possess strong leadership skills including the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, analyze, execute on multiple tasks and adapt to changing environment.

Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with various individuals both inside and outside the organization; and able to understand and create reports / presentations /proposals.

Possesses strong leadership skills including the willingness to pursue roles with increasing levels of accountability, coaching, teaching, inspiring, forgoing alliances, and garnering situations.

Ability to work under stressful situations.

Proficient with computer systems including but not limited to MS Office.

Job Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in the role in an acute care hospital

Current RN license in good standing by the California State Board of Nursing

Current Certification on Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred

Current BLS for Health Care Provider card
