iContacts – Dead Simple Contact Manager

When it comes to adding, organizing, and managing hundreds of contacts, it is always a serious headache. Personally I hate contact managers that come with different complicated functionalities and tend to favor those which are simple to use.

Update: iContacts for Windows has been discontinued. However, you can use EZ-CRM to create and manage contacts.

I specially disfavor those which ask additional details like Home Phone, Office Phone, Personal Phone, Personal Phone 2, Personal Phone 3,….what the heck? There should be one phone number(mostly Mobile number or Google Voice number) when it comes to contacting a friend, this is always the case with me and so should be with you.

iContacts is a newly released free contact manager that removes all the complicated fuss and provides only the most basic contact management functionality that is needed. To add a contact you have to provide the name, address, email, phone number, and that’s it. Hit Add and the contact will be instantly added to the list.

If you have added thousands of contacts and want to pinpoint a contact, the build-in search does a good job. Since all contacts added to the list are indexed, searching for a contact take less than a millisecond. The contact you are looking for will be highlighted.

You can also create a backup copy of the database by going to File > Backup. This helps if you want to quickly move contacts to another system.

It has two additional options – Email Contacts info and Copy the info. In the latter’s case you can define what to copy, for e.g you can choose to copy the phone number only. This is useful if someone asks for the number and you have to provide it immediately.

Copy Contact Info

If you love simplicity and ease-of-use combined with some awesomeness, then give iContacts a try.

It works on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It requires minimum .Net Framwork 2.0 to be installed if you are planning to install it in Windows 2000 or XP. Enjoy!
