HTC HD2 is perhaps the only smartphone in recent history that has remained undefeated in paradigm of Mobile OS development. The phone surfaced with WinMo 6.5 and then opened its doors for Android, Meego, Ubuntu and Windows Phone 7. Recently a lot of NAND based Android ROMs have emerged for
HD2 that basically allow the users to boot right from the phone’s internal NAND memory decreasing SD Card lags etc.
The phone also boasts of the largest underground Android development community, which is in consistent process of cooking ROMs, developing custom kernels and improvising tweaks / hacks etc. Recently HTC Bliss and Runnymede, two high-tier Android phones, had their system ROMs / RUUs juiced out and now HTC HD2 also has a ROM based on systems dumps of the earlier mentioned phones. Sense 3.5 UI is the unique selling proposition of HTC Bliss and Runnymede phones. The Sense 3.5 UI has a huge widget support along with many other factors that were missing in previous Sense UI versions.
Boxmax, Senior XDA Member, has recently releaded RunnyMede and HTC Bliss RUU based ROM that comes with Sense 3.5 UI on board. According to various initial ROM testers / flashers, it works great and boasts of rock stability with great battery life and all other goodies. This Sense 3.5 UI’d ROM from BoxMax comes with JW2,1 custom kernel and the build is based on HTC Bliss WWE Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
Here are the features that work after you flash this ROM on your HTC HD2:
- Bluetooth Connectivity
- USB Mount
- Album / Gallery
- MIUI Camera
- 720p Video Playback
The ROM comes pre-rooted with super user and a tweak has been integrated to enhance in-call volume. You can download the ROM and associated patches from here and then flash them normally [after doing a WIPE and Nandroid backup] on your phone. You can also head to the official XDA BoxMax ROM thread posted here for complete change log, installation instructions and extra downloads.
