How To Transfer Activity Data From The Health App To A New iPhone

When you buy a new iPhone, you can set it up in one of two ways. You can restore it from a back-up of your old iPhone or you can set it up as a new device. When you restore from a backup, you are able to transfer every bit of data from your old iPhone to the new one. When you set up an iPhone as a new device, there is one type of data that you can’t get to a new iPhone over unless you restore it from a back-up; activity data from the Health App. If you want to set up your iPhone as a new device but would like a way to port the activity data to your new phone, Decipher Activity Transfer is the app you need.

Backing Up Activity Data

To use Decipher Activity Transfer, you need to take an encrypted backup of your old iPhone. If you don’t encrypt the backup, your activity data will not be saved to it.

Extracting Activity Data

Once you have the encrypted backup, run Decipher Activity Transfer. It will scan your iTunes library for encrypted backups. Select the most recent one you just took.

Decipher Activity Transfer

Decipher Activity Transfer will now create a fresh backup that has absolutely nothing in it, other than your activity data. You will be prompted to enter the password you set when taking the encrypted backup.

Transferring Activity Data

Now that you have the backup created by Decipher Activity Transfer, you are ready to restore your new iPhone from it. Set it up as a new device but don’t download any new apps to it just yet.

Connect it to iTunes and restore your phone from the backup Decipher Activity Transfer created. Your activity data will appear in the health app. The rest of your phone will be as good as new. You can now start installing apps and setting up the rest of your device.
