How To Install Gingerbread Based CyanogenMod 7 On LG Optimus 2X

CyanogenMod is beginning to reach out onto some of the latest Android phones out there. That goes without saying that some of the older devices continue to be revived courtesy of the CyanogenMod ROMs. LG Optimus 2X is in a league of its own right now with a only few Android devices out there that could match it’s hardware punch and performance. What better way to honor it then with the CyanogenMod 7 custom ROM. More on the ROM and how to install after the jump.

The ROM is a Nightly release right now so coming across a few bugs shouldn’t surprise you at all. However, since CyanogenMod has a dedicated thread for the Optimus 2X now meaning work on releasing a stable and final version is hopefully underway. As for the bugs, it’s a Nightly and it’s bound to be full of it. So if you are not proficient with ADB and the terms kernel, bootloader, recovery don’t make sense to you, this ROM is not for you to flash.

So for those who dared to continue, we move onto the installation.

  1. To begin, simply copy the ROM and Google Apps you downloaded from the link above on to the root of your SD card and flash it via ClockworkMod recovery. Flash the ROM first after which you can install the Google Apps.

If you’re unfamiliar with flashing ROMs via recovery, see our guide on how to flash ROMs and .zip files via recovery in Android.
