The infamous volume bug in the beautiful Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sure has frustrated some very excited users. If you already have one, or have ordered one and are already fretting over this, no need for that anymore. Thanks to XDA-Developers forum member paulobrien, a fix is now available to rid you of this issue. The fix is actually an official, and fixed boot.img file, which is to be flashed onto your Galaxy Nexus. Of course you will need to have an unlocked bootloader for that.
Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. AddictiveTips will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.
- To begin, download the fixed boot.img and extract it.
- Put your device into bootloader mode. (Hold the Volume up and down keys as you press the power button) and connect it to the computer via USB.
For Windows: Run install-windows.bat.
For Mac: Open a terminal, navigate to the location of the extracted content, and enter the following commands:
chmod +x install-mac.sh
For Linux: Open a terminal, navigate to the location of the extracted content, and enter the following commands:
chmod +x install-linux.sh
