Hiring Salary/Salary Range:
$51,000 – $58,000
The Facilities Management Division implements USF System’s programs through the development of policies and procedures in coordination with USF System institutions (USF Tampa, USF Health, USF St. Petersburg, and USF Sarasota-Manatee) as well as through strategic initiatives designed to realize the goals and objectives of each institution. Six Departments make up Facilities Management. Planning & Space Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and Emergency Management have system-wide responsibility. Design & Construction, Operations and Maintenance & Plant Operations, and Building & Campus Services, have local responsibilities on the USF Tampa and USF Health Campuses.
This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of high voltage electrical systems on the Tampa campus and the industrial electrical systems in the central plants.
Performs utilities 480 volt system repairs, including motors, VFD’s, and power distribution systems.
Performs high voltage (4160V-13,200V) distribution preventative maintenance.
Performs utilities 480v system preventive maintenance, including motors, VFD’s, and power distribution systems.
Performs high voltage (4160V-13,200V) power distribution system repairs.
Performs street light maintenance.
Performs additional related duties as required.
Completion of an appropriate approved electrician apprenticeship program; or a high school diploma and four years of electrical related experience, one year of which must have been in high voltage. Appropriate vocational /technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. The position requires possession of a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL).
The preferred candidate will have four years of high voltage electrical experience, and completion of a four year electrical apprentice program.
Working conditions include exposure to high voltage electricity and hazardous materials and fume, elevator areas (i.e., over six feet), outdoor weather conditions, restricted movement and confined spaces, dirty environments, noisy environments, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. In addition, this position may be required to work on weekends and holidays and in emergency situations. (i.e., will be subject to on-call responsibilities). This position requires detailed knowledge of high voltage (13.2 kilovolt) electrical systems. A valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL).
