The New Best Western Plus / Executive Residency opening in Colorado Springs, CO, in spring 2018 is hiring an Opening General Manager. The 100 room limited service and extended stay hotel has a desirable location to capture leisure, corporate, military and small group business. The ideal candidate will drive top line revenue through effective operational and revenue management practices while managing expenses, will provide support to the team by elevating the guest experience through exceptional guest service and will be involved in the community.

The General Manager is responsible for successfully opening the property, manage property operations on a day to day basis and assures optimum performance and continual improvement in guest service, employees, sales, marketing, property appearance, and profit/financial control. Coordinates, directs and manages the staff and everyday hotel operations to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction and efficiency while maintaining standards set by the company assuring 100% guest satisfaction. Responsibilities:

  • Handles all pre-opening projects and hires a quality team to be in place at time of opening.
  • Leads the pre-opening sales efforts in tandem with the Director of Sales
  • After opening, demonstrates and promotes 100% commitment to Best Western Brand Standards resulting in the best possible experience for hotel guests and employees
  • Oversee sales efforts of the property and meets revenue objectives
  • Maximize revenues, manage labor & controls expenses resulting in positive and flow through to NOI and to meet or exceed budgeted revenues
  • Responsible for preparation of property budget and forecasts, reports financial results on a weekly & monthly basis
  • Monitors collection of in-house guest balances and direct bill receivables and pays Travel Agent commission on a monthly basis
  • Monitors monthly inventory of supplies and equipment. Ensures purchases made are within budget and by approved vendors
  • Recruits, trains & motivates employees in accordance with company & brand standards.
  • Communicates all policies and procedures to entire staff. Conducts regular meetings to provide various information including company communications, policy reviews, local property activities, goals, etc.
  • Adheres to federal, state and local laws employment related laws and regulations.
  • Manages employee personnel forms, including hiring, performance evaluations, payroll and benefits related information, required Federal and State postings, etc.
  • Conducts coaching/counseling sessions; performance evaluations; prepares performance improvement plans, disciplinary documentation; conducts terminations
  • Inspects and documents repairs and cleanliness of property with Maintenance to ensure optimum upkeep and repair, room cleanliness and overall property appearance
  • Maintains an active involvement in the community
  • Participates in all brand programs and attends all brand training and conferences


  • Minimum five years related hospitality management experience
  • Hotel operation experience required holding positions as General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Operations Manager
  • Direct Sales & Revenue Management experience required
  • CHA or Brand equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read and speak the English language and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present & communicate professionally in one on one and small group situations to guests, clients, employees, owners and brand representatives.
  • Conversational Spanish not required but beneficial.
  • Ability to organize multiple projects; manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of computers and software including ability to use e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet software

General Manager reports to ownership, has an Assistant Manager, Director of Sales and up to 15 employees.

Based on proven experience, compensation up to $65,000 annually plus a bonus program. Medical, Dental & Vision benefits available. Vacation earned at 2 weeks per year up to five years. After five years, 3 weeks’ vacation.
