The Field Service Technician is a member of the Proterra Service team that will be responsible for field commissioning, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Proterra’s Fleet of hybrid and all electric transit buses and associated fueling equipment. This person will travel 80% of the time to the various customer sites throughout the US. The position will spend approximately 80% of the time diagnosing operational problems and repairing equipment for customers’ buses.
II. Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities: List the major duties/accountabilities to achieve the positions key objectives.
Repairs, maintains, troubleshoots and services electric bus and charger fleets.
Maintains good communication with property staff, responding to questions but also passing concerns to management or internal client service representatives
Handles installations of new buses and charging systems
Hands on training with new hires/customers
Monitors subcontractors work to ensure quality control
Maintains proper paperwork and documentation for repairs and installations.
Add notes to team’s field service software to enable follow-up communications with customer and historical data
Updates inventory in the team’s field service software for any equipment used on job sites.
Performs other duties as assigned by management. III. Position Competencies:
High School Diploma or equivalent
3-5 years’ experience of directly related work
Hands on experience in either electrical, HVAC or other related field Client Interaction/ Customer Service experience.
Good driving record demonstrating ability to safely operate a company/customer vehicle
Commercial Driver’s License preferred
High Voltage/Hydrogen training or certification preferred
General knowledge of transit bus/hybrid and/or electric drive systems preferred
Experience with electrical wiring, circuit testing, troubleshooting and general mechanical/electrical systems a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact in a professional manner with internal and external customers
Good problem resolution and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non-technical parties)
Complete assigned work accurately and in a timely fashion
Intermediate level computer skills (including MS Office)
Approximately 80% travel is required local and out of state.
Ability to operate independently with limited supervision
