Externships: Radiologic Technologist

For the duration of the externship, the student will be under the guidance of a clinical instructor/preceptor. The responsibilities of this externship include, but are not limited to, the following:

Helping set up quality x-rays using correct positioning, markers and radiation exposure;

Implementing safety procedures for patients, self and staff when preparing for and taking x-rays;

Ensuring patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, etc;

Understanding how to process and archive images;

Escorting, triaging and obtaining vital signs from patients;

Sterilizing and setting up instruments;

Stocking the treatment area;

Maintaining cleanliness of the x-ray and treatment areas;

Other daily assigned tasks.

Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

All externship candidates must be sponsored by a school with which Patient First has an established affiliation agreement; The Externship Coordinator from the extern candidate’s school must contact a Patient First representative to verify eligibility and schedule an interview.
