DocUpdate Notifies About Documents Created/Updated By Your Co-Workers

Does you job suck because it is too tiresome working on the documents all day, not in writing the documents but in finding out who created or updated the latest document in your office? It takes half the day for most people only for watching out for documents that have either been created or updated by your co-workers.

Luckily, DocUpdate is here to help. It is an awesome opensource productivity tool for Windows that lets you know which documents has been created or updated by your co-worker in a simple-to-use window. Now you won’t need to shout to your co-workers to ask if they updated the document or not.

Just run the tool, select the context, and the search term. Remember that all documents should be in one directory(My Documents) that is shared over the network, in this way the program will monitor the directory for any change in documents.

Since I wasn’t able to live test it, below is the screenshot taken from developer’s webpage which gives further insight as to how it works.

The only downside is that it lets you monitor for Office 2003 and Text documents only. Since it supports .ppt, .doc, and .xls, it doesn’t have support for latest formats such as .pptx, .docx, and .xlsx yet.

It works on all versions of Windows. Enjoy!
