The Disaster (EH&S) Coordinator will coordinate emergency management activities within the hospital organizational structure and implement all Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) Grant requirements in the facility. Grant activities should be coordinated with assigned Disaster Resource Center (DRC), umbrella hospitals and the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Coordinate the implementation of all HPP grant deliverables for the current statement of work.
  • Coordinate and participate in brightness activities for the hospital command center HCC.
  • Maintain pharmaceutical cache and or check pack in coordination with pharmacist.
  • Store secure and maintain disaster equipment and supplies in the state of readiness.
  • Ensure that all disaster resources are easily accessible and available for rapid deployment.
  • Maintain all HPP Grant documentation ensure that documentation is complete and available for yearly review by the EMS agency and/or the regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a trained and prepared hospital decontamination team that provides coverage 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
  • Actively support Los Angeles Counties healthcare coalition.
  • Coordinate the facilities participation and exercises and drills in conjunction with county and community partners to ensure hospital preparedness.
  • Participate in the development and annual maintenance of the facilities written disaster plans and procedures to ensure effective multi hazard disaster response.
  • And sure national incident management system compliance requirements for healthcare entities integrated into the emergency management activities.
  • Active participation in the healthcare continuity and recovery planning team.
  • Maintain all hospital accreditation and licensing emergency management standards and requirements as it pertains to emergency management.
  • Ensure that all HCC staff is trained in national incident management system, hospital incident command system and other disasters relevant training on a regular basis.
  • Familiarization of Los Angeles county department of health services emergency disaster management policies.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.

Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in emergency management/disaster preparedness or related field (environmental safety, public safety, emergency department, or risk management).

Req. Certification/Licensure: Hospital Disaster Management Training (HDMT) required. Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) Certification, Certified Emergency Management Certification (CEM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), and Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) preferred.
