What is “Recycling Perks?”

Recycling Perks was founded in 2010 in Chesapeake Virginia with a mission of assisting municipalities increase their recycling rates and consequently help divert waste material destined for landfills. Two primary reasons for doing this are to (a) reduce the carbon footprint of the city and (b) help the city control disposal costs associated with landfill use. Recycling Perks strategy for doing this is through its’ “You Recycle — We Reward” program. Through this program, local residents receive “recycling points” for putting their recycling bin out on their assigned recycling day for pick up. “Recycling points” earned can then be used for discounts with local businesses (Reward Partners) who advertise on Recycling Perks website. By this method, not only do recycling rates increase, but it also helps the local economies of participating cities drive traffic to their businesses — truly a win-win for all concerned. Since the company’s beginnings nearly five years ago, it has now grown 12 major cities and continues to grow!
