Pin Most Frequently used Programs to Start Menu

If you use a program regularly then in order to save time and access them faster, you can pin them to the Start menu. Pinned programs appear on top section of the Start Menu. In order to pin the program, right-click the program icon and choose Pin to Start Menu.

Clear Recently Used Items & Programs From Start Menu

Clearing recently openeditems or programs from the Start menu doesn’t delete them from your computer, rather it helps you in hiding your confidential data. In order to clear the list of recently used programs in the Windows Start Menu, open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window by right-clicking the Taskbar and selecting Properties, now go to the Start Menu tab and uncheck the Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu option or Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu depending on what you want to clear.

Customize The Right Pane of Start Menu

The right pane of the Start Menu displays Computer, Control Panel, and Pictures, etc, but you can easily customize the right pane of the Start Menu and choose what you want to display there. Inside the Start Menu tab, click the Customize button.

Customize Now in the Customize Start Menu dialog box, select the options in the list that you want and click OK, now they will be displayed in the right side pane of the Start Menu.

Add Run Command to Start Menu

The Start Menu in Windows Vista and Windows 7 did not contain the Run command by default. No doubt, the Run command is very useful and helps us in lots of situations, you will definitely like it back on the Start menu, follow the guidelines here to enable the Start Menu Run command.

Restore Start Menu Default Settings

If you have messed up with the setting of your Start Menu and don’t exactly remember what you did, then you can easily restore the start menu to the default settings by following the instructions mentioned here.
