Corporate Development Associate job – ARM – San Jose, CA

The Corporate Development Associate role is an opportunity to significantly impact the expansion of our business and shape the connected world where our technology will be used by billions to communicate, learn and prosper. You will be responsible for delivering timely and robust financial, market and operational analysis by supporting the Corporate Development team and ARM business groups in evaluating investments, M&A transactions and other business analysis. You will work with the VP Finance, the rest of the Corporate Development group, and ARM business group leaders. As a functional expert, you will prepare the business case, financial models, coordinate due diligence, post-acquisition evaluations, and undertake other activities with little oversight and in a collaborative, dynamic environment. The team will count on you to analyze and derive meaning from data and deliver meaningful business judgments. This role has the opportunity to grow into a deal execution leader role over the longer term ( > 3 years), and –in the medium term– lead aspects of transactions including due diligence.

This role will be located in San Jose, CA. Local candidates are preferred and no relocation is available.

What will I be accountable for?

Provide transaction execution support to the Corporate Development team and ARM business groups:

Develop clear and credible investment cases, accurate financial scenarios and prudent financial valuation analysis for M&A and strategic investments

Prepare presentations and papers credible at an executive level used to gain approval for a given transaction

Follow and analyze key industry trends and developments and M&A, investment, and venture deal activity in the markets in which ARM operates

Conduct industry or company specific research as required in order to gain industry intelligence in advance of any transaction

Manage Corporate Development team infrastructure including but not limited to: Prepare reports and analysis including quarterly investment portfolio reports, budgets, 5 year plans, cost center analysis, monthly dashboards, and CFO reports

Budget system and analysis

5 year operations plan

Quarterly portfolio and auditor reports

Monthly dashboard and CFO report

Transaction database management

Job Requirements

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Engineering, Economics, Business or Finance) is required, with MBA (Masters of Business Administration) preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience as an investment banking or corporate development associate, preparing the financial analysis, model and valuation for M&A transactions

Preference for 2 or more completed M&A transactions with experience that includes building financial models and business cases

Strong modeling, valuation and financial analysis skills including interpretation of financial statements and translation into meaningful trends and assessments

Demonstrated ability to probe for and drive the construction of key business case assumptions and translate those assumptions into credible financial scenarios with internal stakeholders.

Strong written and oral communication skills

Able to work effectively in environment with high degree of ambiguity, capable of exploring new technology/ markets quickly with little oversight

Preference for working knowledge of semiconductors, software, and related technologies for consumer electronics and ARM technologies

Ability to travel up to 25% of work schedule internationally
