The main job functions include: Program design and development, developing content for brochure, website and other marketing programs, generating partnerships with vendors and other skills labs, working with public relations to increase community awareness of the lab; Initiating research and furthering existing research projects; Designing and implementing a curriculum for the training of surgical residents in basic and advanced surgical skills; Preparing didactic sessions, tutor, evaluate and document the performance of residents and Attendings in surgical skills; Providing the operating room with assistance in the use of new technology; Serving as an interface between industry and the operating room for the introduction of new technology; Operational management of the Bioskills lab facilities including program scheduling, coordination of resources, selection and ordering of supplies, materials and equipment, and recordkeeping, maintenance (physical plant) and security, provide evaluation and maintenance of models/simulation equipment and systems; Coordinating videoconferencing capabilities for enhanced training opportunities; Developing policies, procedures, and documentation for use of the lab by internal groups and external vendors and for resident evaluations; Coordinating the planning and development of Bioskills programs in collaboration with the Chairman and IBTI Director, including management of budget, producing grant proposals and publications for and from activities carried out in the lab; Ensuring that the IBTI receives and maintains certification with appropriate accreditation agencies; Participating in functions, events, and special projects as requested in the Department of Surgery.
