Commercial Marketing Manager – North America job – GenMark Diagnostics – Carlsbad, CA

The Opportunity:
The Commercial Marketing Manager- North America, is responsible for developing and applying a deep understanding of how to market and drive the commercial success of GenMark products and initiatives in North America that ultimately help the company to achieve its financial goals and business objectives. Key responsibilities include the planning, leading, executing and monitoring of tactical marketing programs that drive commercial product performance, both for new product launches and on-market products. This role requires a high degree of proactive collaboration cross-functionally with Global Marketing in addition to the North American Sales organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and rollout marketing materials and messaging to customers and commercial organization

Accountable for exceeding financial, instrument and reagent targets through the development of tactical marketing plans, sales tools/resources, and product/market related education for the North American Commercial Organization

Develop, monitor, and report on marketing program effectiveness

Partner with Global Marketing to support the launch of new and on-market products through activities such as sales training, positioning, messaging, competitive assessments, sales tools, pricing, etc.

Use sales forecasting or strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends

Stay current on evolving market dynamics in the clinical laboratory, hospital, reimbursement, and related market segments

Primary point of contact to the Commercial organization with questions about on-market products

Primary point of contact for leading competitive intelligence activities and field communications

Co-travel with the field on a regular basis in support of general business as well as special projects

Perform market research and gather customer feedback as needed in collaboration with team members

Participation in National and Regional sales meetings, tradeshows and other industry events

Cultivate and maintain relationships with KOLs, corporate partners and VIP customers that will drive platform adoption and endorsements

Collaborate on life cycle management projects as needed

Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as assigned

Ability to travel up to 25%

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required with preference given to Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related Life Science fields

Minimum of 2 years prior selling experience with direct quota carrying responsibility within clinical diagnostics (IVD) preferred

Minimum of 7 years commercial marketing experience within clinical diagnostics (IVD) preferred

Skills –Technical

Prior knowledge/training on Miller-Heiman or other sales methodology sales methodology preferred

Working knowledge of is required

Solid quantitative analytical skills as they relate to conducting market analysis, forecasting, and market research

Demonstrated success in growing new and/or existing product lines through targeted marketing initiatives / campaigns

Proven experience with developing sales support materials and tools for product commercialization

Experience within infectious disease molecular diagnostics a plus, but not required

Experience working in an FDA regulated environment is preferable

Advanced computer skills working with Excel and PowerPoint, proficient in entire MS Office Suite

Proven and effective interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with customers and sales team in a positive, friendly, and professional manner

Excellent presentation skills and writing skills; exceptional verbal and written communication skills required for interacting with customers and coworkers

Adept at influencing, gaining consensus, and capable of overcoming resistance by presenting a powerful case for implementing new initiatives or ideas

Proven ability to prioritize responsibilities in a high pressure, dynamic, multi-tasking environment

Must demonstrate strong presentation skills and the ability to create and deliver presentations to large groups of peers and customers

Proven positive and professional demeanor
