Performs technical procedures, phlebotomy and clinically oriented activities under physician direction. Assists patients with appointments, scheduling, registration, and check-in and check-out procedures. Collects insurance co-pays and payment for services. Provides insurance verification and processes insurance referrals and authorizations as needed. Able to continuously portray the Beaumont categories and recognized standards of customer satisfaction.
Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant preferred by hospital policy.
H igh school diploma or equivalent;
BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association is required prior to employment per hospital policy.
Must be experienced as a Medical Assistant and be able to perform diagnostic testing, EKGs, phlebotomy, give injections, blood pressures, and assist in minor surgical procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians and medical assistant students. Must exhibit behavior associated with Beaumont Standards of service, respect, ownership and attitude.
