Our Medical Economics group seeks a business information analyst to be responsible for supporting the business unit by coordinating projects, providing analyses and reports, and monitoring changes to ensure minimal risk to the organization. Analytics activities include utilization analysis of our diagnostic imaging and other specialty medical products, pricing and financial data analysis for current and prospective clients, and special studies for large Health Plan customers and internal management.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Develops models to track and analyze operational data and prepares related reports and recommendations to management.
Tests assumptions, interprets, and conducts follow-up analysis. Identifies trends, alternatives, resolves discrepancies, and recommends solutions.
Uses SQL or related languages and analytics tools to extract needed operational data.
Creates project request and develops project work plans in conjunction with business and technical resources.
Researches impact of project on other areas of the organization.
Experienced business information analyst may be additionally responsible for:
Plan, coordinate and manage the process of analyzing and manipulating all data necessary for client utilization analysis, and client financial analysis.
Assist Client Management with the pricing process for prospective clients, as well as financial reconciliations for current clients.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, annual production process of client and sales analytics reports to ensure timely delivery.
Assist Client Management with the development of AIM program design by determining cost trends, P/L threats and opportunities, and pricing/cost impact for existing and potential clients.
Track program performance for comparative benchmarking and provide support with analysis and presentation development for educational and clinical initiatives.
Review and verify client’s compliance with AIM Inc.’s program design pertaining to order entry, order fulfillment and transaction validation.

Prospective clinical review of outpatient advanced imaging procedures such as CT, MRI, Nuclear Cardiology and PET Scans
Clinical review for cardiology and specialty pharmacology products and services.
Oncology Management programs leveraging AIM’s proven specialty benefit platform to drive consistent and effective cancer care through services review along with management of close to 70 oncologic drugs.
Specialty Drugs programs to provide review for over 142 specialty drugs offering providers an automated drug review process through our provider friendly web portal.
Sleep Management, designed to align the diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea against clinical guidelines, enhance member access to high value providers and ensure treatment compliance for the dispensing of supplies.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of:
BA/BS in a related field such as business/healthcare, information science, or mathematical sciences – or previous work experience in data analysis, workflow design, system development, automation, and project management – or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
Working knowledge of current generation of tools to support analytics is essential – for example, MS Access, MS Excel, pivot tables, SQL and databases, statistical tools, visual analytics, and/or data mining
Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills essential
Excellent oral and written communication skills essential
Project management skills would be beneficial
Experienced business information analysts are expected to have:
BS/BA degree in related field such as business/healthcare, information science, or mathematical sciences,
Minimum of 2 years of work experience,
or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Masters degree is a plus.
Strong proficiency in SQL, database systems, and/or current generation of tools to support analytics.
Analytical experience developing business recommendations based on financial analysis and familiarity with healthcare claims data.
Critical thinker and self-motivator with problem definition and analysis skills with attention to details.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to interface with management and executives, and with clinical staff.
Experience in managed care and/or health care financial analysis preferred; background in radiology and/or utilization management is a plus.
