We are looking to onboard a Business Development Specialist for our Brickyard Store!

The Business Development is critical role that facilitates interaction and business relationships between independent food service operators and Gordon Food Service Store/s while bringing new customers to Gordon Food Service Store/s accelerating market penetration of commercial & Noncommercial wholesale business. Focusing on new account acquisition, developing and supporting customer sales with the Store team and providing expertise in utilizing business development tools to achieve customer growth and profitability are other key opportunities for this role.

Essential functions include:
Travels throughout the assigned territory; contacts customers at their place of business to acquire new wholesale customers, selling Gordon Food Service products and services.

Presents the “first impression” of Gordon Food Service to prospective customers; shares the story and strengths of Gordon Food Service.

Develops customer relationships and effectively collaborates with Store Sales & Service Manager sharing customer’s ownership.

Collaborates with Business Development Mgr, Pricing Specialist, and appropriate Division Sales & Service Mgr to develop and facilitate a trade area strategy effectively increasing new wholesale market share, ensuring competitive positioning for their trade area. Communicate strategy to Store & District leadership.

Understands Store KPI’s, responsible to meet or exceed financial indicators related to sales goals for assigned stores

Utilizes pertinent analysis & reports to drive effective decision making.

Understands, explains benefits, and leverages Gordon Food Service branded products to meet customers’ needs.

Identifies opportunities for the customer to build their business and provides value-add services to support.

Educates and promotes Gordon Food Service “Pick-up In-Store” technology to enhance the customer experience and build loyalty.

Position qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, or related field preferred.

Three or more year’s previous sales or business experience to include experience or an interest in food business practices and food preparation.

Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred.

Strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative, and creative in order to build relationships, network, link resources and apply business practices.

Must maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy.

Travel: daily/local.
