General Summary

This position performs preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance and limited repairs on Beaumont Health System Biomedical Equipment and performs general maintenance activities. Maintains materials, supplies and equipment to complete these tasks. Adheres to schedules, inspections and investigates problems and performs necessary repairs. This position is located in Royal Oak, MI.

Essential Duties

  • Performs scheduled maintenance tasks and limited repairs on specific equipment for which they have demonstrated competency relating to maintenance of Beaumont Health System’s Biomedical Equipment.
  • Follows documented operational procedures for maintenance and repairs on Biomedical Equipment without interrupting critical hospital functions.
  • Maintains parts, supplies and tool inventories as required for maintenance and repairs
  • Gathers information on, and generates paperwork for, repairs beyond the scope of job requirements.
  • Performs inspection, testing and maintenance of specific, designated medical equipment. This would include, but not limited to infusion pumps, physiological monitors, fluid warmer, blanket warmers, warm air units and other various Biomedical devices.
  • Works closely with hospital departments to schedule PM testing on equipment
  • Completes daily activity paperwork including recording time and material expenditures and work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Investigates problems to quickly ascertain whether problem found can be handled during the preventive maintenance activity or to create a Corrective Maintenance (CM) work request.
  • Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.

Standard Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong technical background with a minimum of 5 years experience in a technical capacity required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Experience in a healthcare facility (Preferred)
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with vendors, guests, hospital staff, management, co-workers and all other persons associated directly or indirectly with Beaumont Health.
  • The job requires significant autonomous decision-making. Assignments are received in the form of results expected but have considerable freedom to decide on procedures to be followed.
  • This job may require lifting up to 50lbs bending, twisting and standing for long hours may be required.
