Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Billing System Specialist is responsible for entering/updating demographics and linking charges for hospital services and clinic patients, in accordance with established procedures. This position works to identify and recommend improvements in support applications, work queues and related workflow. The Billing System Specialist is responsible for demonstrating, training, integrating, and supporting multiple practice management applications for the clients of IIBA.
The Billing System Specialist interacts with other departments within IIBA, its clients, and its vendors. This position analyzes structure and workflow to recommend changes to improve overall system operations.

o Contributes to the maintenance of appropriate technical documentation for the practice management system and work queues.
o Provides application support to user requests, including work queues configuration and prioritization, impacting operational workflow.
o Maintains system functionality and troubleshoots errors.
o Assists in training and workflow analysis.
- Practice Management Applications Solutions:
o Participates in identifying and providing input for solutions and improvements to our Practice Management system.
o Works with the healthcare solutions team in operational and organizational analysis to identify areas of needed improvement.
o Contributes to the development of training plans and conducts training for users on work queues.
o Creates training documents for staff and clients.
o Conducts individual and group training for internal and external customers.
o Contributes to the development and participates in the execution of work-flow based test plans for upgrades and new software deployments.
o Works with the Patient Accounts and IT to ensure the overall success of all upgrades.
o The Billing Systems Specialist is responsible for supporting patient accounts may extend to non-scheduled work time, where immediate support may be required.

Qualifications and Experience
- Education: High School Diploma/GED required
- Experience & Knowledge:
? One to two years of experience in Healthcare billing
? Strong analytical/problem solving skills and abilities
? Attention to detail
? Computer keyboarding proficiency
? Familiar with CPT and ICD-10 coding
? Good customer services skills
? One to two years of experience in Healthcare workflow such as RIS, PACS, or EMR/EHR or equivalent training.
? Experience in supporting relational database management reporting systems.
o Practice management applications user functionality, whether implemented or not.
o Practice management applications workflow (from a user perspective).
o Healthcare data transfer standards, such as HL7, ODBC, and FTP.
o SQL based data repositories and reporting utilities.
- Computer Applications: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired:
- Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio, Publisher), Replicon; Internet, Intranet
