Within delegated authority, the Benefits Officer will be responsible for the following duties: Assist in the preparation of insurance presentations and communication pieces including webinars and video teleconferences with other duty stations; monitor Umoja data cleanup reports and assignments; supervise a team of Benefits Assistants; work with FIOS and insurance carriers to upgrade files and improve processes; develop annual campaign ICs; supervise and review health and life insurance processes as well as work with UN agencies to streamline HLI processes. Assist the Chief of Section by performing other duties, including keeping systems and procedures under review and recommending adaptations and recommendations thereto.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business administration, accounting, economics, or related field. A first-level university degree in any of these fields, in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in Health & Life Insurance administration or related area is required. Experience leading a team is required. Extensive experience with the US health insurance environment is desirable. Experience reviewing and updating entitlement processes is desirable. Experience working with the entitlement modules of an ERP system for a large global organization is desirable. Project management experience is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
