Position Mission:

The position of the Assistant General Manager (AGM)-Caribou/Bruegger’s is designed to ensure the successful daily operations of two unique brands, Caribou Coffee and Bruegger’s, in a co-branded location. The AGM upholds the standard operating procedures of both brands while creating a memorable experience for each and every guest and ensuring the delivery of fast and friendly service, quality products and a clean, safe store environment.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Increases unit sales through delivery of quality store operations, and in-store and neighborhood sales building activities.
  • Ensures a quality guest experience by driving fast and friendly service, ensures that each product delivered to our guests meets Caribou’s quality standards, and ensures that the store is clean in accordance with standards.
  • Executes national marketing programs.
  • Represents the Company in handling customer complaints and/or issues.


  • Manages team labor by efficient scheduling and managing wages of both new hires and existing employees.
  • Controls product costs through efficient inventory control and waste management.
  • Controls operating expenses such as supplies, services, and telephone while ensuring upkeep of store and equipment.
  • Minimizes loss through strict observance of cash handling policies, proper training of employees, and complying with all accounting/banking requirements.
  • Completes weekly P&L. Utilizes and interprets P&L and financial statements to analyze financial trends and plans accordingly.

Operations and Produce

  • Oversees the consistent planning, preparation and delivery of freshest, highest quality coffee and espresso based beverages, “A” & “B” bagels, and other complementary products.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the daily operation of both business are safe, legal and profitable
  • Responsible for ensuring that the daily operations of the coffee shop business
  • Participates in regular Inventory of all goods and is accountable to reported inventory levels
  • Is responsible for all cash handling procedures and cash management in the bakery.
  • Ensures that the highest quality products are both displayed and served to guests.
  • Follows food safety guidelines to guarantee that optimum food safety standards are met.


  • Recruits, interviews, and selects new team members, shift supervisors and assistant General managers.
  • Monitors the performance of each employee and holds them accountable for standards and expectations.
  • Provides feedback and guidance, possesses the authority to discipline, document performance issues, and discharge.
  • Responds to employee questions and resolves employee issues in a timely manner.
  • Models, upholds and implements Caribou’s policies, practices, and standards.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.


  • Completes and maintains records/paperwork.
  • Completes proper forms, payroll procedures, and reports accurately.
  • Maintains records of personnel, inventories, sales, and banking/accounting.
  • Maintains point of sale system by reporting all system failures and verifies download accuracy (e.g. pricing updates, menu changes).

Required Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Team Member training.
  • Shift Leader training.
  • AGM training.
  • Drink Certified.
  • Restaurant, retail or customer service management experience.
  • Demonstrated sales building, P&L experience, recruiting, training, and basic computer skills.
  • Math aptitude.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
