QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

  • At least one year experience in a health care setting, preferably in long term care or assisted living facility
  • Free from communicable diseases, negative TB test, free from disability that would adversely affect persons to be served
  • Clear criminal record
  • Ability to direct the work of others, prioritize assignments, delegate and follow through in a systematic manner
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to effectively represent the company to the community at large
  • Possess excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Prefer college degree

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

General:

  • On-call duty as outlined by the Executive Director
  • Responds to emergency calls in timely manner
  • Fills in shifts on weekends on call as needed
  • Monitors lobby area, greets visitors in timely manner
  • Performs administrative duties as outlined by the Community Director
  • Assists Community Director in supply ordering

Leadership/Human Resources:

  • Oversees new hire paperwork, faxes paperwork to payroll department in timely manner
  • Organizes new employee files
  • Schedules and coordinates new hire and ongoing staff training
  • Assists employees with human resource related questions
  • Works with staff to solve problems or resolve differences
  • Provides direction and support to staff in the absence of Community Director
  • Provide on-going training and role modeling and support to staff
  • Oversees staff training and orientation
  • Tracks attendance daily, communicates to managers if employee is in violation
  • Tracks yearly anniversary dates and completed updated background checks

Resident Care:

  • Assesses current resident for change of condition, documents as needed and informs appropriate parties on a timely basis
  • Completes all documentation in resident charts in a timely basis
  • Oversees the medication program in the absence of Community Director
  • Circulates in dining room and common areas throughout shift
  • Assures appropriate music is played in resident areas
  • Interacts with families and updates on resident needs as needed
  • Processes doctor orders as needed

Staff Scheduling:

  • Ensures staff schedule is accurate
  • Posts schedule at least 2 weeks prior to end of month
  • Communicates schedule changes with staff
  • Provides weekend manager with accurate schedule
  • Maintains adequate coverage on all shifts
  • Completes time off requests in accordance with employee handbook
  • Completes, distributes, and follows up on Resident Assistant assignment sheets

Payroll:

  • Accurately and timely processes payroll
  • Maintains payroll records in an organized manner
  • Daily matches computer print-out to schedule for accuracy
  • Maintains that computer is in working order and accurate
  • Records all new employee fingerprints in system
  • Ensures all employee files are complete and up-to-date
  • Maintains file system for tracking individual employee performance reviews and notifies supervisors
  • Oversees employee benefit program. Distributes information to employees, signs up new employees

Marketing:

  • Conduct tours as directed
  • Takes phone inquiries as directed
  • Greets all visitors
