Applied Cybersecurity Intern job – Mitre Corporation – Rockville, MD

Join MITRE in support of the Nation’s Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). The right candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects to define, develop, and deploy innovative technology in support of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE).

Bring your prior experience to bear as part of a team that defines, develops, and deploys new innovative technology to improve the nation’s cybersecurity. This internship will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and problems to address the sponsor’s most pressing needs. This position will be primarily located at our customer’s facilities in Rockville, MD.

The Cybersecurity Intern will gain real world experience working as part of an integrated team. These teams engage with business and sector stakeholders, consortium representatives and technology providers to define and articulate the cybersecurity business needs and problems. They will provide cybersecurity expertise, engineering, and other technical support to the NCCoE in identifying; developing, demonstrating and documenting use case requirements and automated security platform building blocks. These use cases focus on critical business sectors and the building blocks will mitigate cybersecurity-related risks across a variety of business and infrastructure sectors.

Support MITRE’s effort for the NCCoE in a particular sector (use cases) or on a cross-sector (building block) project. Engage with MITRE team members to develop and implement an appropriate and secure architecture to fit the project requirements.

• Provide support to use cases and building blocks

• Support production of use case or building block deliverables

• Support evaluations of new hardware/software, as required, to include engineering evaluations, testing, and an appropriate level of documentation.

Required Skills:

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the following fields:

• Cyber Security

• Systems Engineering

• Software Engineering

• Computer Science

• Electrical Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, certifications, or special projects.

Graduate students actively pursuing a graduate degree are also encouraged to apply.
