Adult Services Lead Clinician job – Pittsburgh Mercy Health System – Pittsburgh, PA

Major Function Summary: Works closely with the Practice Administrator, clinicians and physicians to maximize clinical productivity, financial performance and customer service in Ambulatory Services. Assumes responsibility for the population of the person served as assigned to the senior/aging clinical pod. Responsible for leading and understanding demand and supply of services, best practices in industry and maintaining of continuity of care of individuals. Implements Pittsburgh Mercy policies and procedures. Maintains departmental policies and goals. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Pittsburgh Mercy’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Essential (E) and Marginal (M) Functions :

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Monitor Clinical Workflow and Productivity Workflow of the unit
    • Ensure procedures and policies are followed
    • Ensure benchmarks for performance are met as set by Administrator
  • Train workflow(s) in partnership with Training and Quality Departments
    • Understand and train work flows
  • Expert in Tools
    • Train-the-trainer model of the electronic health system
    • Ability to trouble shoot new user questions
    • Train new staff on tools
  • Population Management
    • Understand the demand of the population you serve
    • Manage capacity and panels of the providers
    • Work with administrator to add (or decrease) services based on supply and demand.
  • Clinical Panel
    • 50% of your time will be spent with a panel of persons served with you serving as primary clinician (50% direct clinical and 50% administrative)
  • Marginal Functions of the Position:

    • Engage staff with excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
    • Display written and verbal communication skills and excellent listening skills for individual interactions and in group settings.
    • Use of advanced Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio computer skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapid turnaround times.
    • Ability to work in a fluid structural environment requiring a high degree of collaboration.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

    Master’s Degree in social services, healthcare management or administration and 1 year of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in social services, healthcare management or administration and 3 years of healthcare supervision experience preferred. LSW preferred. Valid Driver’s License required.

    Work Schedule:

    Primarily Monday through Friday daylight with some non-traditional business hours.
