Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct supervisory responsibility over the accounting personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of their work.
Oversees the efficient operation of a multi-company accounting system which provides financial reporting utilizing the Goodwill Industries International Chart of Accounts, following generally accepted principles and policies and conforming to the fiscal standards.
Directs General Ledger activities to include closing, analysis, and production of financial statements including appropriate revisions to keep the management team and others updated.
Oversees the development, maintenance and practice of all accounting related policies and procedures in order to comply with state and federal laws.
Maintains accounting systems and records in accordance with department and management needs and retention standards.
Responsible for specialized billing activity involving Private, Nonprofit, City, County, State or Federal Grants or contracts awarded by these agencies to this agency. Oversees all equipment purchases as well as payroll related expenses being reimbursed by those entities. Responsible for ensuring that the agency is in compliance with all grants or requirements of all funding sources, including the preparation of all documentation needed for external review.
Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed for all agency bank accounts.
Assists in the preparation of the Annual Budget that includes the completion of raw data to report form.
Assists the auditors with the preparation of the Annual Financial Statement audit, which includes compilation of data and creating schedules.
Ensure compliance with all agency policies and procedures and safety standards throughout areas supervised and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor, and other regulatory standards.

This position directly supervises a General Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, Payroll Specialist and Accounting Specialist.

Education and Experience
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree (B.A) in Accounting and Finance. Minimum of three years’ administrative experience in management of general accounting functions or a Controller. Working knowledge of principles of Fund Accounting as well as proficiency in using various computer applications. Must have solid accounting principles background. A working knowledge of Sage ERP300, Sage HRMS is a plus.
